Thoughts on combat?
Tbh I found it pretty bland. As someone that played SAOAL for hundreds of hours, I kinda expect more from this new game. But then they remove the air combat, making the final attack automated. Make this game combat more bland.

Its a bit contradict here but I will say it.. Auto sword skill and auto final attack is acceptable, just give me back my air combat.

I never could get into AL. everything had this..delay or something that made it just not at all feasible to play. to me at least, even if this combat is "Bland" it is already eons better than AL was, which is a remarkably low bar. Just because everything feels 100x more responsive. even then i do have some issues with this game, that i hope will eventually be fixed in a patch. as it is i think they expect you to swap between party members to cover all breaks at all times, or at least that's how im playing it. the full game might be a lot more involved too.

can you even call it combat? its all automated now and the devs even want you to button mash in this game like they are not even trying anymore, i see many other fantasy type game genres and they really mess up sao all the time, they could have made even a syste, like dynasty warriors or even turn based cuz thats at least better than what they brought us here, this game is a huge downgrade to lycoris and even lycoris was bad

i dont have automated settings on or i dont know what you mean. Thought Arts maybe? my chars dont do anything yet. Far as me pressing the square button, and choosing my combo enders, i dont consider that to be automated. Being able to do precision inputs with the skills you put on your hotbar is another plus to having the game be engaging to me. Also again the "AL " mention . maybe i didnt give it a proper chance or maybe they patched it to be above 30 fps / unresponsiveness, but did we play the same game? AL is easily one of the weaker games in the entire series and one of the worst action games in general.

I checked out toward the end, I think I'm over this kind of game play, I pushed through to the end in AL, not sure I feel like going through this again without some more incentive..they have time to release more bosses and enemy humanoids, For now, I'll rock with Fate/ Samurai Remnant.:mhwgood:

the gameplay is very sleeper, not much to it and from what i tried skill connect ex blue thing is very hard to notice with all the flashy effects... also would have liked a graphics upgrade it kinda looks like playing 2002 game but ehh ima finish the game and see what endgame looks like.

Its weird, feels like alot is missing from combat, and i hope more features is coming. You dont regen hp by passive skills as of yet and the save spots doesnt give back all hp. 2h sword feels very weird so far. No skill training or affinity. Stat wise the only things that seem to give extra edge for those that need it depending on weapon seems to be gear you find. But i really hope they give you something else to work with later with new features. Atm it feels like a devil may cry/souls action game instead of an rpg game. Got it gifted, so curious if it will get better. The alliance bar in battle seems like a terrible mechanic alongside slower weaponry

is this your first SAO game ? if so its been the same for all of sao games since release.. hollow fragment could beat a level 300 monster at lvl 1 so this wont be any different if you watch all content on this game via youtube

honestly i think thats what i always wanted out of a SAO game. an actual Devil May Cry-esque game. no this game is nothing like DMC, but i would love it if we get a game like that. High Quality action, lets you play as like Kirito, Eugeo, and maybe someone else. swap up weapons mid combo, enemies being balls to wall difficult, mechanics feeling good, etc. im not completely mad at this game tho, i know they have to keep them feeling mmo-esque but thats at least what i want one day.

not the first since its much different than the last one, but im already aware the elitism goes hard in them, but it does fit the sengoku hierarchy in underworld, and to some degree a certain country. But i get its one of these they will expect to use full extent of what you have, its like not only using a bat in combat, but using the flat end of the handle to cave in someones throat. But at least you wont miss anymore by accuracy stat, but when your that good at handling weapons you wont miss any vital spots. I have a persona in me triggered by negative feelings, so its this above pretty much what i try avoid

DMC is nice game, but i was just expecting something more rpg out of this one. There are not many games of this setting, except dot hack series that you can play at own leasure, especially dot hack gu. This change of gameplay reminds me of a certain series of games called kings quest, and the last in the series became a black sheep of the community since it turned into an action rpg mixed with enivomental puzzles, and all other of series is famous at the time point and click puzzle games. I loved the black sheep but the rest did not

I don't know about you guys... But if the combat system goes back like it was in HR (or FB if you like a more simplistic way) I wouldn't mind at all. This way is just... too much unnecessary things...
Maybe it is just me but if they simplify the party control system like it was in the previous (good) installments, it would be a HUGE improvement... Just saying...
It feels very hard to get moves to branch. I am especially having trouble with double circular and inferno raid. I have to double/triple tap when I see the blue branch circle and I still miss it most of the time. If anyone has advice on this i'd appreciate it. I also do have double circular enhanced for the extended input window and it still feels difficult.
