Pillars and small generators….

I’ve been reading and seeing image of people putting huge numbers of small generators and batteries on pillars.

Now that I have unlocked pillars, I cannot get them right next to eachother on the grid. For some reason they always snap to a position leaving one yellow marker between the two pillars.

I must be missing something obvious, or have they patched it out or something? How do I position the pillars so they sit right next to eachother, close enough to place the small generators or batteries on them?,

do not put them on the corners of the tiles

On the tiles you should see 3 green dots in a row. Unless they made it impossible to put it down its on that spot you should put them at.
