How to use Artillery?
Love the game. One problem though: How do I get artillery cannons to shoot at a Chronos? I can manually fire a single cannon at the Chronos but that seems counter productive to how many shells it takes plus each map has nearly a dozen cannons. The auto targeting options lists "massive" as a possible target. Switching the guns to automatic fire mode has them aim up, target the Chronos, then just sit there, doing nothing. Red lines show it is aiming at, and targeting correctly, but it refuses to fire. I've searched through several Google pages, and have yet to find any answers, so now I'm here, asking y'all.

If your Artillery guns are aiming up, it means they are in Indirect Fire mode.
You need to switch them to Direct Fire mode, when it comes to having them shoot at bosses.
Direct fire mode is also a a good choice when it comes to having artillery attack Apostles.
(Edited to add a little more info.)

That did it. Thank you for the reply. Wasn't understanding what that button did but now I know.

As far as I know the only way to change from indirect mode to direct mode is on the map (its the M key for me in missions). When you click on the artillery you will have the option for direct or indirect. I believe direct does more damage to units also.

I do wonder if the direct hit damage and blast damage are separate, and as such, mean a direct hit also means a point blank blast.
There is a Risk called Fusion Rounds, which does +100% damage to direct hits with Artillery. That definitely ups the damage on direct hits.

yes that Risk makes me think they are different damage types. I believe there was something that said indirect damage is lower then direct but it could have just been the risk modifier.

theres nothing wrong with manually firing your arty either tho. endgame is all automation, so 99% of the time on recovery day your just sitting there twittling your thumbs while auto loaders and auto ammo makers do everything. 2x twin barrel arty pieces kill the boss on max difficulty (city ruins 5)
but can u mark like all artillery, and shoot with them all together instead of every single one manually?

You can double-click to select all of the time and if you hold shift and press attack it should send the command to all turrets.
I have to change my cannons ( every type ) all the time because the settings wont keep it.
yup they fudged the arty configs. should be able to set some to indirect and the rest to direct as needed in the builder. then default them off and allow the player to turn them all on with one click.
