Use Shift + left mouse button to select multiple objects and then click on the first object you selected
But be careful, if you select too many objects, this affects the FPS.
This works to select multiple objects but it doesn't let me 'move' them. If I release shift and try to click it goes back to single selection and if I don't release shift, it just unselects the object from the group.
Select with the Shift key and release it, then the objects should be highlighted, then click on them without Shift
I created a short video

Thanks for the demonstration. I figured it out! I'm so stupid, I was dragging when I should have just single clicked. Thanks again.
