That crane is a n utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I am not sure if you guys know that Crystal Tower, to do as much damage as possible, it got a crane with a big bomb aside it, sometimes i think. Climbing that thing is already annoying but the as soon you get it moving, you dont move with it, one false step and you go aaaaaallll the way down. At least there is no Fall damage or i would be utterly pissed. Any Tips how to use that thing correctly?

I managed to do it once with double jump boots, but i imagine it would be easier to do with the hover boots

Just shoot the tower with your artillery. For me it also spawned a POI with two tanks that can be controlled every time I visited this location - you can board them and shoot shells at it as well.

The crane is bull crap, tried climbing it twice, hated it every time. To ease one's pain a bit I'd recommend just using CIWS gun and it's recoil to speed climbing and all. But really, just use artillery.

dont have artillery yet, thats of course the easy option, but i want to use the crane, its there for a reason but its ticking me off because its half outworld, maybe its just bugged because the model isnt fully impemented yet

If i could shoot at least at some clamps instead of trying to climb it, i would be happy.

I never had luck with the crane so i just use tanks that are there to shoot it and move on,

Grappling gloves.
As others have said, hit it with artillery instead or a nearby tank if an army camp spawned on the map to use.

In fact, there is a clear algorithm of actions. First you go upstairs to the terminal. Then go up the inclined surface. When reach a high block, wait for the crane to reach the far right/left point. Jump onto the block. Again wait right/left. You jump onto the bridge. You go forward, the main thing is not to jump. Again wait right/left. Jump to terminal. Turn on command mode. You wait until you find yourself outside the zone boundary (no, AETOS will not have time to capture the target) and when the crane begins to move towards the column, exit the command mode and press the button. Works 100% for me.

Ranger mechs also make the whole crane needles. I like using a singe Light shot with a bunch of battering rams XD one taps any neutral object.

By the way, I'm interested. How is the amount of final gold from ore determined? The first time I blew it up with a barrel, I got about 80-90 fragments and 1500 gold.

Next time - only 1100 gold and 1 diamond.

I think its damaged based RNG what you actually get.

Climbing it takes a bit of time depending on your boots, but the last bit when the arm is moving is just pure hell, because you do not keep any momentum, so even small jump can and will shake you off when you go to the drop terminal very often.

Eventually I just gave up on it and just shoot the thing with artillery or alternitivelly just pile all explosive barells around at the foot of it and shoot them with a rocket launcher. Never actually had a map where there were tanks you can nearby, but that apparently works too.
