Whats you base build/defense style?
How do you set up your bases layout and defense?

Im still just tier 3 so mine is just 1 floor, and along the top edges i have 30mm and auto turrets one after the other in a 5x6 area, the 30mm are set to only fire on medium or large threats prioritizing large at max range, the autos are set to focus on small medium and large in that priority order, i also have 3 smart mortars along one side focusing only on large and massive targets at max range, with a auto turret in every floor level corner of the base focused only on small units at a shorter range should the horde get too close. then i got 3 guardians up top to deploy as quick meat shields.

As for the walls i have the front half 6 layered up with armored walls and armor plating on top.

I'm on city ruins now. Outpost has about 600 power, 3k materials and 1.6k core output now. I never bothered with shields/armoured walls. I figure if they're getting close enough to damage me I've already lost. Instead i have layers of pillars for batteries and generic walls to hang batteries on. Core output is the most important stat so i prioritize that, and energy is nice so i can do auto-loot runs to quickly research and rank up my soldiers in the barracks for base operations. For a long time i only had 3 mortars that only fired on large units (to eliminate the long range tanks/emp) and two CIWS that only fired on missiles. I had my Xen gun with inferno/fire rate mods to quickly kill big threats.

A big change was going in and changing each 30mm turrets firing range. This way they don't all shoot at the same target and waste ammo.

I also make sure to do runs for money so i can buy a lot of stuff in the shop (that's how i was able to do my recent upgrade that brought me from 600 core to 1.6k core), and i always start each mission with a pack full of ammo to load my autoloaders (all bought from the shop). Before each mission is over i spam create ammo boxes to make sure i'm topped up. Hopefully soon i can get advanced loaders and ammo makers!

I'm on city ruins too.
My base exists of two parts. The top part is for regular defence. The bottom part is filled with armored walls and batteries( then a small opening filled with turrets)so that when my base gets overrun. It takes them ages to destroy the base and they get killed by the turrets inside the base on the lower side.

Core tower is surrounded by armor walls and I've attached aegis walls where I could to to beef it up.
The odd sides have at least 2-4 MGs covering them. So it's protected from every side from the stray enemies. Entrance is via back. All sides are covered with barriers. Front has also ramps included for additional fortification.
Only got two autoloaders handling the frontal weapons.

Front also has 3x Smart Mortars that only target tanks and larger enemies with max range setting. They usually take care of all the stray tanks that could even remotely damage my base. CWIS take down all missiles with max range focus on larger enemies.

Only time it gets hairy is if I'm inside the base when the railgun apostle shows up and nukes half the base. Only in the event it actually gets close enough to the base...

To be honest it looks like a mess, but it works.

Thats pretty nice actually, i might move more towards that style later on, i got a few experimental build ideas to try out once i get the resources

10 Mortars, because game kept giving me mortar parts
Enough fire power for City 2 Difficulty, though feeding all those guns in between waves becomes a frantic dash

My bottom floor is mostly all open besides around my tower in the back of my base and a 4x6 room in front of it but I have guns going up 5 floors on 3 sides to the base. The floor layout is like a inverted pyramid, but It was hard to make work

Just did a slight redesign with max ATC. Now there's 6x artillery in the back. Frontline got a bit more beefed up with more MGs in front and 2 more CIWS at top.
