Not enough Tower Defense in a Tower Defense game?
The only time we get a tower defense is at the end of a final extraction at the very end of your tour. Sometimes there is like a mini tower defense during a regular map mission, but those are rare and far in between.
So for most of the time we are just running around on mostly empty maps and looting as if there is no tomorrow. On many maps there are no enemies at all and its just running. :( The looting missions take up close to 90% of the game and it gets really boring.

I am having real fun of building and tinkering with my base, and then see it in action. But it is a real shame that the actual tower defense part of the game, where your base goes into actual action takes up such a tiny part of the game.

It would be so much better if even during regular missions the tower defense would play a vital role as well. For that however you would need to adjust ammo a whole lot more and get and maybe get auto loaders earlier, otherwise its just a pain to deal with it in every mission, or they need to re balance the ammo part.

thats the reason why i didn't buy the game, i saw a review, they said the tower defense part is great but you need to spend 30mins-1 hour painfully looting randomly generated garbage to get 10 mins of tower defense, yeah no thanks.

the game would be objectively better if they just left the looting part out of the game, and that alone is enough reason to not buy it, if you have to remove half the game to make it more fun.

If the looting / extraction shooter part is your major concern, you can basically upgrade your tower to hold so much energy that you auto-loot a random portion of the loot on that specific tile. You may not get everything but it is way faster.

Yeah, there's the titular Infinity Siege but I think I was like 20 hours in by the time I unlocked that. Progression is slooooooooooow.

the looting is fine, small maps and use tower to scan for items, you can go pretty fast. it gets better has you level up.
The only thing that motivates me to spend hours looting maps is the delayed gratification of stacking risk incidents and maxing out the recovery timer with all sorts of rare materials and whatnot to pull 250k+ gold in one run. The looting itself is pretty bad otherwise, you really need to keep in the back of your mind that if you spend the hours necessary to loot every node on the map thoroughly you can walk away with a massive haul of material, gear, and xens that feels so addictive it should've been targeted in the US's war on drugs.

That doesn't work for everyone though, and if you're here for the tower defense you'd best look elsewhere because even Infinity Siege itself doesn't use the outpost you've poured time and materials into without taking rewards away from you.

it needs content and difficulty increase too like once everything is unlocked its pretty boring and easy, cool to watch for the brief time its shooting but waves spawns are too staggered. i have never seen an enemy and my base in the same place if i ever take damage its armour panels taken out by the enemy arty. all this firepower for a weak ass enemy. hope it gets sorted soon.

I agree, the enemy AI is just too weak. The only time it gets slightly dangerous is during final extraction missions. But during regular map exploring, its just a nuisance, if at all. There is no danger exploring a map.

Once you get speed items you can just wooosh by, loot the whole building and the AI reacts once you are gone.

Oh wait, you mean all the enemy bots remaining on the map will rush towards your base on extraction?

The enemy AI is very slow to react. I have items that have various mobility/speed benefits. When I load into a map I start a map wide scan, look at what is there, zip around and get it. Only rarely do I have to shoot and often enough I just draw them into the massive radius of my outpost guns.

Or you skip the whole looting and use auto loot once your base can store enough energy.

autoloot should cost progressively more its way too cheap right now

IMHO autoloot is fine as is. Its a QOL time skip feature. If you want to get all you have to go there manually.
