There are also some xens that would probably pair with it quite nicely, i just haven't spent the time to try and figure out which ones would be good. I tried a mending beam but it was very lackluster even with 4 Mendings.
"Beam" goes through enemies, Focus doesn't, which is what OP is talking about.
I got it to deal about 1 mil damage for the whole mag (180, not modified), but it heavily depends on crits and at least one piercing mod when above 80% health. If this piercing mod is not there - the damage is not about 1 mil, but about 30k. Damage mods felt useless on this, stacking elemental entangles/lightstrikes felt useless as well (but 1 single elemental entangle felt nice).
And while it did deal that 1 mil damage - other mods deal 2x-4x times that, while offering more range and crowd control.
It really needs a buff of some kind.
Focus 100% NEEDs a buff, it's range and DPS is just too low... like I tested it against the Light XEN morph, w/ 2 Light Strike and 2 Thrifty, Light did 44k and Focus did 22k... which is a pathetic difference when you consider that Focus has an effective range of like 20m and I wouldn't be surprised if some enemies can melee you from outside of the things effective range.
So yeah, as far as I can tell, outside of using Focus as a repair beam, I literally cannot see a reason to use the thing,
