story, voice acting, optimization, UI all garbage/barely functional.
on early game the game is super sloooowwww, you need to "loot" resources and extract like tarkov, you need those resources to craft module to put on your outpost and make it stronger.. repeat..
for some it might be addicting to see your outpost grow, but it is really boring and a slog for others
People purchasing should be aware that, Campaign isnt completed
But game is pretty fun, imo worth it if you enjoy base building, tower defence
Absolutely fits my impression of the game so far. I like it alot and devs seem quite active in fixing things by patches ... we will see where it ends ....
Honestly, it's a mixed bag. You'll have to determine if it's flaws match your tolerances, and if it's draws are worth it to you. Personally, I love the game, but I had to put a lot of time in. I'm probably more grind-tolerant than most. In terms of updates, the dev team so far have been on fire, really responsive and quick, usually fixing more than they break each iteration. I'd say abandonment (based on performance so far) is low-risk here.
They should add container as playable character
So yea, once again CEOs/shareholders/whoever it was once again swooping in to make things worse.
This game tries to do everything, and I admire the attempt, but given the amount of game-time looting encompasses,I'd like to see more AI refinement... or something to add more challenge (the chasers are a good example, not much AI required, but they add some spice). I'm a realist, AI is difficult and expensive!... but I believe a corner was cut here. The game is still fun, and totally agree that the tower defense portion is the most important, and for that, AI works well.
Just as a note to the OP, looting can encompass less time if you use the quick-loot option (but you lose the opportunity to find the rarest loot).
Are there issues? Yes.
Are they gamebreaking? No.
Is there jank? Yes
Is it hilarious? Meh, not really its just kinda there.
The FPS aspect of this game kinda tapers off at the later stages due to two reasons.
1. Mob scaling gets nuts
2. Your characters damage output does not scale well enough to be viable.
The Tower Defense aspect is fairly well done. You can build defensive lines using Outpost mods called Deciphers. They have ones for smaller weapons (Small Artillery Formation Decipher, aka Machine Guns, 30mm and Smart Mortars), larger weapons (Large Artillery Formation, Prewar Artillery is only option currently, probably get more later). You can also get barricades (Stakewall with relfective damage effect, sadly turrets seem to have issues firing over these, so I rarely use em as a defensive wall), and other things (tired of typing lol).
The looting aspect gets....tiresome? By the time you are at endgame you can probably just ignore anything below a certain rarity. I could probably just ignore anything below Epic or even below Legendary and speed up my mission times but im a loot goblin. ITS MINE! ALL MINE! Theres also a secondary goal of End of Tour (A string of missions, think military jargon) that your entire haul gets valued and you get a total value graph showing your loot. So far im just under a total of 300k in value brought in one tour. And im not sure if things I send back via Drone Delivery count towards that which was a lot of things.
I don't think the product is perfect, but I'm extremely happy with it, and the price is good IMO. I got what I expected (but I also did some research before I bought, the trailer doesn't reflect the actual gameplay well). Just trying to help the OP out with a buying decision, giving honest critique. For me personally, time is more valuable than money really.
Objectively... I've played 140 hours and the vanguard edition cost 35 euros... that's 25 cents an hour... worth it!
