Apparently, you plug it to your outpost then you throw the ball (at the top of the tower) on the reactor to charge your outpost.

There must be something more to it, as just doing these 2 steps seems not to do anything. Or this mechanic is bugged a lot of times.

no see any balls around

Don't think it works. Since that's the first thing I tried and nothing happened.

I spent way too much time trying to figure this out.
Firstly, there were 2 balls in my map, one was black and orange, and the other was black.
The black ball was in the tower above it that you can jump up to find, putting this in the top of the charger seemed to activate it.
I could not figure out what the black/orange ball did...

I connected the charger to the tower, my base, the core inside the base, the power generator in the base, the random buildings around the map and nothing seemed to change. I thought maybe it powered the two turrets mounted on the tower which you can use, but that was already active for me without using the balls.

Maybe I missed something? But it just felt like a waste of time.

same find balls activate but nothing happens

It worked for me last night. First, I attached the plug to the core of my base, where you would normally interact to store stuff. Then, I climbed the tower and grabbed the black ball on the top floor, outside. Supposedly, the ball gives more power the longer distance it travels. So I threw it from as far away as I could and landed it on top of the generator thingy next to the tower. I got 44 power from it. Don't throw it from up close or you might not get any power.

It's one set of several mechanics spread out on the various maps to give you a power boost. Since you have limited power and you will need more for those longer tours. Easiest one is the material converter in the back of your base, use it at least once or twice during the early missions, never let your tower be topped off on materials unless your about to start recovery day. Easiest one I found was when rescuing Monica, there is an AI power battery in a semi trailer you just activate it and get an easy 50 power

Anyone else feel like they need a video of someone doing this to understand what to do? I seem to be having zero success

The black/orange ball is for the basketball building. You can find these balls on some of the open depot buildings but that doesnt mean theres a basketball minigame building in the map. Then you can just ignore these.

In regards to the black/silvery ball at the top of the tower then that is correct. you need to use this one to give a power spike for your tower. Also you gotta attach the plug to your base. I always throw it on the tower to make sure i get the power.

Also the further you throw the black/silvery ball, the more power you get. So try to make a long throw when putting it in the machine that gives the power transfer.

Attach the plug to the tower part of your base. Not any of the external components like a reactor or side panel. Then climb the tower where you found the plug and find the metal ball at the top, toss it into the top of the generator thing like tossing a basketball, the longer your throw, the better the charge will be.

Thank you all for the explanations! Now even i understood it.... some of these mechanics are not very intuitive.. or explained...

Oh wow. Thank you for explaining this! It's kind of silly to have the ball spawn if the thing it's used for hasn't spawned in... probably an oversight I guess. I also dropped the ball right on top of the machine so I guess I didn't generate any power since I didn't throw it? Would be nice if the game explained literally any of this lol

Unfortunately, I ended up refunding the game but I will keep a close eye on it and maybe rebuy it if it gets a few updates.

you can put them in your backpack [Q] so perhaps we can take them into other locations?
Unleashed3k Apr 13, 2024 @ 9:58am
You can not put the orange ball into your backpack, but if you have it in your hands when you press "end expedition", it will transfer to the next map

but usually you don't need them, bcs there are enough "balls" around the bb building to unlock all 3 gifts (20hits)
