Another way would be to load a scatter shot with battering rams, which is what i am using now. I used the inferno setup before because I didn't have the right mods at the time
As for gold in general, grab as much stuff as possible and by the end of the tour have as many risk cards that gives x% of Valuables/Materials/Everything you recovered that you can handle.
For example Wanted - Building Materials, gives 200% worth of gold based on your recovered building materials, which is basically any loot that is listed as materials in your base storage
Or Great Force which gives 100% of Materials you recovered. Same thing the one above really, don't know they are worded differently for functionally the same effect
I don't know how many hours you have or what base design you are working with so I will just say to stack as many risks like these as you are able to safely handle and go from there
If you have arty or smart mortars, they can also destroy doors or better said, the hatch on top of the building.
But like others said before, Fae with inf ammo skill and a fast firing xen will usually burn through these doors quite easy.
At later stages it doesn't matter anymore, because then you should be able to oneshot these doors easy.
