I have nothing against this genre, but with this game i was expecting to get a not too serious arcade/sim with funny characters in a traditional league/franchise system
including transfers,team and player customizations.
Also brutal and bloody with nasty means, doping, bribing referees, sabotaging opponents.
A bit like ''Super Blood Hockey'', just better!
I'll definitely check it out because the graphic style looks great.
I have 2 hours to find out if I like an ice hockey rougelite...
^^written with slightly skeptic keystrokes^^
Same here.
I really like rogulikes, although I still can't understand how this game is supposed to be roguelike.
It doesn't mean that much... Well it never really did (except for "traditional" RL). For some it's random generation, for other it's permanent progression, sometimes just add some perma-death and you're good to be a "rogue something".
But instead of adding a description of a game mechanics, let's just call all those games roguelikes, it certainly will help us understand what's the game is about hey ? :D
I can agree with that. Although some of the non-traditional roguelikes still have a right called that way. Take Spelunky 2 for example. The procedural generation is here not just for a check mark. I wouldn't be able to name another game that explore it at that level.
But for me, the Rougelite system loses its breath too quickly.
In these one goal games, for example, the loading process takes longer than the action on the ice.
A classic league mode would have been more appealing for me with this setting.
My conclusion so far:
+ Good gameplay
+ great graphics
- dull Rougelite, unfortunately.
I'll apply for a refund now and see if they have added a league mode later.
According to their roadmap, there is still hope for me.
But I can understand if other people really like it...
