My whole team was in the 70's for speed without the puck (I had a couple people with speed +25 without the puck) and shaggy had the skill that gives a speed boost. In my last win my star did have over 100 speed and rocket boots.
They were certainly a challenge, but nothing crazy. I find Speed is the biggest stat for dodging the sticks.
For the most part, clearing the rest of the map map up to the golfers is not terribly difficult. Then I get on that ice field. And, they certainly feel like a steep step up from any other team. Of course plenty of people have beaten the game, and some have done it with every player--so there has to be a way to work through it fairly consistently.
For my part, I'd be happy with just one win. Right now, I'm 0-5, with four of my games being lost by 1 goal.
I'm not sure what to do against them, specifically. Sometimes it feels like they barely hold onto the puck at all as it flies across the ice to people I can't even see let alone defend against. So as stupid and obvious as it is, my plan has to be to keep them away from the puck at all costs because there's no defending them "normally," at least not for me.
I think the key might be either to have a lot of speed across the team (short pass keep away) or heavy defense/checking (especially offensive checking if possible to keep them down long enough to score).
I could be VERY wrong--as is evidenced by my lack of wins--but I don't see a "jack of all trades" type team winning much. The golfers are too fast on their skates and too heavy handed with their sticks--so you ether have to beat them at their own game, or keep them from playing it at all.
Then it's just getting past their brick wall of a goalie. The only consistent goals I've had (even with teams loaded with curve/up down/T-ball shots) are spamming rebounds--so I'd be on the look out for those power-ups too.

Anyway, a long post to say that I'm frustrated with the golfers, too. I don't want them nerfed or anything, I just want to figure out how to best play against them and work on that strategy.
The last game I played against them I was down by 4 at the end of the 1st. I finally got some rebound goals and cut it to 2 by the end of the second, and cut it to 1 at the beginning of the third. Then it all fell apart as they began to score at will and i got blown out.
It would be fun if you were rewarded with smart and clever play, utilization different skill combos. The way it is right now it feels like blind luck hoping for rebounds. And you HAVE to have the rebound specific talents.
Oh, and the green "ice" makes it very difficult to follow the puck. It's a fun idea but ends up making it difficult in an artificial way.
But as I said, and OldManSkills mentioned, it's not fun playing against them.
9-1 loss
They're mental lmao
so, uh, i'm hoping they do something to add playable modes or it's an early g'night
Well this is the last fight so nothing is really "gated" behind
Golf team has insane attack but mediocre defense, it's really an all out battle. Speed is the most important stat to be able to catch the puck and counter them
Also I think Cornelius has the curve puck skill so he's sometimes able to score from far
i was close every time and it just came down to a lil puck luck but im not doing it again, at least not for a while. i hate to say it but it really makes my heatlh tank the way it made me upset .
