How do you find mud?

Been running round for ages, mainly around near the water but not seen any?

You can find mud near water between the dirt and the watering hole or, if it has rained, in puddles

You can also make mud yourself by wetting dirt

right so i need clay as well for this recepie right ?

I wait till it rains and the rain stops then just go out of my base and stock up. make 3 or 4 piles worth.

When it's raining dirt becomes mud so you can basically find it everywhere on the map. But best way is just to go next to a river or sea and pick it up.

This only allows me to make a brick with clay and nothing else

You must hold a container of water in your hand and dirt and clay in your inventory. If you have another (empty) container in your inventory, select the one filled with water in the right window (next to the MIX button). Then you can make a Mud Mortar.

Mud mortar is not the same as mud. For example, to reinforce stick wattle walls, you need actual mud. The description for dirt says you can mix it with water to turn it into mud, but that doesn’t actually work in the current build.
