The Last Plague: Blight

The Last Plague: Blight

What to eat?
I think I'm doing something wrong, everything I eat adds massive blight. I tried rabbit, dear, coyote,.... with ingredients to make it hearty etc. Im constantly massively blighted, trying to quench thirst, eat, heal, reduce blight with mushrooms. It's become a full time activity.

What am I supposed to eat or do to keep blight at a manageable level?

I currently have sausages made of rabbit that will add 30 blight. I have cooked dear meat that will add 60 blight. In the meantime I'm constantly cooking up more mushroom stuff to reduce the 63 blight I currently have, while cooking up chamomille to counteract the live drain from the mushrooms. This does not seem right...

You can reduce the % of infection in food. To do this, you need to complete a chain of quests with Elric. Get prescriptions for substances that reduce food contamination.

Eat rabbits. They have the weakest infection.

Pine cones. Those that fall from trees as you cut them especially have no infection (though I suspect that’s an oversight).

Better yet, eat plant foods like berries, pine seeds, and (the non-poisonous) mushrooms as much as you can; they have even less blight than deer/rabbits. Blight seems to get concentrated as you move up the food chain: plants < herbivore meat < carnivore meat. You can plant mushrooms (in a dark room) and berry bushes to have them nearer your camp.

Sucks! But you can definitely do better :) Put some rabbit traps out away from your base to keep the baddies distracted, and visit them from time to time. Put some hearty cooked rabbits in jars with salt to preserve them. When out and about, eat lots of blueberries, then spear a rabbit or two on the way home for dinner. Rinse and repeat. I lived on rabbits and berries for 58 days, and maybe had 10ish blight at the end of any given day - easy enough to clear off with a bowl of soup. Also, make a few extra waterskins (or collect glass bottles) to keep overflow HP and blight potions in as backup. That's all you gotta do!

Oh, and try not to come in contact with the blight.

8 rabbit traps = infinite food

the blight to food balance is really, really bad. i agree, nearly impossible to survive the longer the game goes on. and the disinfectant barely helps because it only at best, halves the blight value on the food after insane amount of waiting. this must be addressed in the future

Just prepare food before you get hungry, let food finish preservation and disinfection during sleep, easy
If you really don't want to deal with blight, build a roof and 3 mud wall on tilled soil, plant tons of curved beige mushrooms(don't remember if it's the right name) and small white mushrooms
Mushrooms planted by players will not be contaminated by blight, and each mushroom give 2.8/2 food value in 100% condition.

Thats what i have been trying to do but it took me like 3 days to finally properly recover, spamming chamomile tea and tall white shroom soups. also i noticed that eating other meat than rabbits is extremely punishing blight wise. I would just wish that there would be a better method of curing blight later on. or maybe better healing methods.

i had some farmland but sadly when i launched the game after the newest update all of the plants were already dead, not sure how that happened bc last time i saw them they were in good order.

No vegetables in the game and waiting a week for anything to grow doesnt make farming very reliable.

Maybe your plants died because of dryness? I also lost quite a lot because there's no raining for 2-3 days:lunar2019crylaughingpig:

not sure. the label on them didn't suggest dryness at all. but i cant be 100% sure it wasn't my neglect. and i didnt use anything against shrooms.
