Can I get rid of Blight?

I'm frustrated.
I can't see the ending of the game.
I can't get rid of the plague in the game.

Can I get rid of the Blight if I spend my time and resources cleaning up the initial point of the Blight instead of building houses?

Right now, it seems like all I can do is survive by growing food plants and mushrooms, clean up the oncoming Blight, and wait for Elric's letter.

No, you can’t. Fixing the Blight is the end goal, and the story has barely started in the Early Access build.
