The Last Plague: Blight

The Last Plague: Blight

Starve to death
I dunno, I put out the rabbit traps, they run around them.
I get the spears, after 20 minutes of missing, I finally score a hit, but it does 2 damage and the rabbit runs off.
I chased one for about 5 minutes to see if I could get lucky and it gets caught on something.
I found a corpse of one, but couldn't harvest anything off of it.
I tried the coyote, since at least that wouldn't run from me, but it nearly killed me, and then ran from me when its health was low.

I ate about 300 berries and mushrooms in the meantime, but couldn't keep up with the decay, and I'm not smart enough to figure out how to heal. It seems like if you sleep you heal, but I couldn't ever get my sleep bar low enough to sleep long enough to repair the damage from coyote.

The tutorial tells you about chamomile tea, which both reduces your sleep bar and heals you slowly. Just pick chamomile flowers, dry them in a campfire in the drying slots and then cook it with potable water.
Coyotes tend to snack on any corpses that they kill or are left lying around.
There is a mushroom soup recipe in the game but I haven't figured out the combination yet so my solution has been to spend more time foraging, spending nearly half of a day solely gathering edible mushrooms in the forest as well as non-expirable foods like milk thistle and pine cones.

The tutorial will 'eventually' tell you about chamomile tea, if you live that long and progress through them, that's slightly different. I can easily go days with nothing but berries and mushrooms... Not sure why you cant. As for the hunting doing 2 damage... basic spears only have 5-6 throws in them then they are worthless, look at the 100% damaged status on it, go make another and it will do 20 damage. That one shots a rabbit if you happen to hit it, which does take some luck. Yes coyotes will run when they are low, then spear it or chase, they will eventually turn and fight if you 'back them into a corner'. Also their meat really sucks, so don't bother hunting them for food. Much better use of your time foraging for mushrooms.

try putting the snares near things the rabbits might eat. sometimes it takes a day or more for the snares to catch anything; i did quite well with making a couple and just letting them be.

it is healthier to eat mushrooms and berries, though - you won't catch the blight as quickly.
