You surely seem to be living in the past like the HR lady back then who asked me if I wasn't scared of men as the only woman in IT. Grow up, open your eyes and your mind. You're not something better because of your attachments.
Also I'm glad you asked about the male characters: the male mayor is cast as a fat coward, and the male fishmonger is an extremely creepy weirdo, and of course we can't forget about the villain who has to be male as well. It's ridiculous.
Sorry you've got some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insecurities but lets go through some "Men's roles"
Some places in the world women do all the damn fishing, sometimes even drive the boats, in Latin America there are women driving cattle because shared work is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing.
In world war two women were building aircraft and flying them to the front. Russian women were putting holes in the heads of Nazis, manning artillery etc. Remember the loosing side? They decided women should stay at home while they used slave labor to build their weapons. We all know how that turned out for them.
SO ♥♥♥♥ your woke paranoia. This game isn't brain washing anyone.
Considering how much horror is being inflicted upon you due to the amount of "independent women" in the game I think that the game is doing a bang up job of conveying doom and horror
Oh yes, the slimey, sticky tentacles trying to grab me from all sides - definitely remember that!
What about the one armed army bro that mortars cosmic horrors and rules a mangrove jungle?
What about the dapper looking mayor that is the head of an entire town?
What about the fishmonger that guts and gores sea life for a living?
What about the wealthy and sophisticated trader that deals in valuables and antiques?
What about the hardened dockworker that eats nails corrupted fish for breakfast?
What about the literal main character that is a fisherman that sails out on a cursed ocean?
Bit of a selective memory you got there.
