How to trawl - for newbs.

Okay I've got my shallow trawl net fully deployed and am going after aurora jellyfish. I cruise over a jellyfish and they simply burst. I'm clearly missing a trick here. Please clarify the process.

Those arent the jellyfish, those are "hazards". You will get jellyfish simply by driving back and forth around the island, they will randomly appear in your net.

Well I've trawled all around the shallows of the Stellar caldera at night and not caught a single jellyfish. Not one. Anyplace else I should be looking? I've caught other random fish but they're not what I'm after.

If you haven't been doing so, go at night. I believe they can only be caught in the trawl then. :)

Yes, as I stated, tried at night. Nothing. Weeird, huh.

Different trawl nets catch different types of things, check your encyclopedia and make sure your net can catch what you need. Then you can just boat around the area doing other things like fishing and dodging phantom rocks/exploding jellies, then check your nets before you go sell.

Wrong net deployed. Doh! Was using a shallows net instead of a coastal one.

To get that elusive Aurora Jellyfish, I used the Improved Trawl Net. Do a few donuts around the red jellyfish at night and you'll catch one. You may have to try 2-3 of them, sometimes one will do the trick.
