As the belt buckle also shared the same "trinket" background but was indeed a quest item, it's clear why people don't want to sell the sextant right away too.
Yeah I've noticed this as a slight issue. When I fist saw the belt buckle I thought it was generic loot but then I talked to the grieving father, I thought that there would be a lot more similar items that looked like generic loot that could be quest items, eventually hoarding loads of things in my storage until I found a duplicate of it and deduced it must be generic.
It also doesn't help that a lot of the trinkets/loot is actual trash (like the broken glasses, I first thought that they only had sentimental value and would be used in a quest, not a sellable trinket)
While I eventually figured out that most of the stuff you dredge up is mostly just generic loot or materials, putting a unique colour background for quest items would make sure players don't mistake a quest item for loot, or hold onto generic loot thinking it could be a quest item. There's a couple of UI things like that that seem slightly unintuitive, but it's still overall a good game.
They could of made it a rod attachment for a chance of dredging up more then one treasure from a treasure spot maybe, just like they already gated a abberated fish chance % charm to the dlc.
Just a quick note on that, I data mined the game today and the DLC item bonus is only 5%. The altar rods also have bonuses too, albeit smaller ones.
I've added the info to the wiki, here:
https://dredge.fandom.com/wiki/Rod#Aberrant_Bonuses
yes, a 5% gated difference no matter how small is a difference, my point was they could of included other % modifier items other then that fishing speed one.
My point still stands, it could of been an actual lucky ring and say give chance of double treasure.
Also just got to point out its REAL WEIRD how instead of contributing to the thread you *pushes up glasses* "achually Its only 5% so HA take that, not much of a bonus"
You could of typed "yeah but the charm is only 5% difference, but the devs could of also added unique rewards like 5 - 10% chance to this or that". You know? something constructive?
Hell IT COULD OF BEEN A SANITY TRINKET, I know you have books to help with that but a unique reward could of been an additional 5% resistance to going crazy for example.
Engage and add to the thread, don't just push up your glasses and point out the obvious as if you though you knew something we didn't.
You didn't think thats the first thing I got info on before buying the dlc? I have common sense and look up the content of what I'm buying before hand.
If you think that it was somehow an argument of any kind, that's on you. Maybe your ideas are interesting, besides the weird angry stuff, but there's a better way to talk about things without presuming that everyone wants a fight. Most people don't.
Edit: Shortened some text where I explained things more. I thought that I'd somehow done something wrong, but from looking at that person's post history, most of their comments are them being intentionally mean or trying to pick fights. So it wasn't personal, like I first thought. They're just a generic angry person on the internet, and that has nothing to do with who I am or what I've written.
