Stellar Basin exotic fish

Got 3/4 of the exotics, but I can't figure out where the stellar basin one is.

Unrelated question, I've almost got all the achievements, but I can't find a good way to get more research parts to finish off the researches and get the ocean trawling net, any tips?

There is a school of fish just in front of the Old Research facility. That's where it is. Dredge the pools all around the Old Research facility to get some parts too.

Also the Trader sells one research part on a regular basis

She does at every location she's at, so you can cycle the locations and get research components pretty regularly.

The only spots I can find there are anglerfish or glowing octopi at night

The stellar basin one is in the crevice between where the large octopus thing is and the Fortress, closer to the octopus side.[/spoler] It requires hadal fishing to acquire.

Is it? I thought it was just off the giant tentacle pit along the crack that runs near the lab ruins, which is not in the direction of the fortress.

Also, it's quite visible from the surface as a really big eel.

I feel like I have to be blind.
I've gone all over the tentacle pit, the chasm running past the research base and around the research base entrance and I can't see anything

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2956706708 - Just loaded up my game and it looks like it's located in coordinate F4 slightly to the SW of the center of that square. this is right in front of the broken research station, just outside of the crater that the octopus thing lives in

Also, regarding the research part of the question, I've found setting up some crab pots or using a trawling net to generate lots of currency and then sleeping through entire days. It seems that the traveling merchant restocks research parts every two to three days, so if you can afford it you can just sleep in place and check her shop. You don't have to travel to a new location but it can be a little more fun to do so if you trawl and fish between locations. Little cheesy, but I'm not sure that there's enough research parts to fully research everything without doing this.

Guess what friends, I'm in fact just an idiot and I'm missing the oarfish in gale cliffs, not the gulper eel.

It periodically dives pretty deep and is hard to spot. Not to be rude, but are you sure that you are missing the stellar basin fish? I caught mine accidentally not knowing that it was one of the exotics my first go through on the game. It's name in the encyclopedia is Gulper Eel

IIRC the 'disturbed water' atop the fishing spot was very low visibility for me, but I found the big eel running across the chasm, fairly near its floor, very visible in daylight.

I'd suggest running down the crack towards the pit rather than away from it as you're facing in the screen shot, perhaps?


EDIT: Well that'd do it! Good luck, I haven't looked for that one yet.

I could have sworn I remembered catching one in the cliffs but apparently not.
Got the actual fish I was missing just a few minutes looking in the right area

I have a related question: I accidentally sold the Gulper eel and when I was on my way to return the Oarfish, a sea monster attacked me and caused me to lose it. When I went back, the spawn was no longer there. Are these spawns one-time only and I'm ♥♥♥♥ out of luck now?
