Black screen on load

Been playing for a while now, halfway through last relic recover mission with the flaming statues. Had a CPU lockup and on restart game doesn't start. just sits at black screen. Checked game files, uninstalled, can't resolve. Anyone else?

Yeah this happened to me today - did gpu driver update, windows update, changed install location - issue still persisting. Just a black screen on load :/

I face the exact same issue.

Game crashed few times since I got it: system froze and restarted. I don't know if it's relevant but I think it happened only when selling my fishes to the first fishmonger (first Island).

Since the last crash I face a black screen (mouse visible) when starting the game and I can only close or kill it.

Updated my drivers, verifiied files integrity: didn't help.

Hardware AMD: Ryzen 9 5900x + radeon 6900xt

CPUs don't lockup..otherwise you PC would not even start. Sounds like the crash corrupted game files. Validate your files.

Solved for me but I lost my save :(

1) Go to C:\Users\???\AppData\LocalLow\Black Salt Games\DREDGE
(replace ??? by your Windows username)
2) Delete "dredge-settings.bin"
3) Start the game.

Now I'm able to run the game but I face the same black screen when trying the load my last save game. Save seems corrupted.

4) Close the game and delete the save folder in C:\Users\???\AppData\LocalLow\Black Salt Games\DREDGE
5) Turn off cloud saving in the game's properties on Steam (if you don't, steam will sync the corrupted save).
6) Start a new game and close it
7) Enable cloud saving

and that's it... as the last save seemed corrupted, I think starting a new save is the only solution.
However, if someone is able to recover his corrupted save, it's more than welcome to get his instructions here.

Damn- I really don't want to go down that road if I can avoid it, I was like 90% of the way through the game. I will try the fix as suggested though, thanks for the assistance!

Yeah, installed on a different machine, game boots but when attempting to continue 'Dredging the depths' loading message just sits there with the prop spinning, never loads game :(

Highly unlikely that I will start a new game so this is really disappointing as I was enjoying this, but not going to drop another 12 hours into it with the chance of the same thing happening at any time.

If anyone figures out how to repair the corrupted save files you would make me very happy!

srsly, im 90% as well, cant replay the whole early game. not gonna start a new one either. gonna refund the game.

I can play it fine on steam deck but when I try to play it on my pc I get a black screen...none of the above seems to work.

Not only this happened to me, it also happened during the same flame quest.

This happened to me too, but without any crashes. I was on the last section of the game, now my save isn't loading.

Worked through the options that the devs have provided and it resulted in them telling me to delete my saves and start again. The game is enjoyable but not THAT enjoyable.

Never had any crashes and I was able to save/exit and then continue from my save several times. Now I am getting the same issue. I am also at the last relic :(

(On PC) I didn't get a black screen but my save was corrupted and it wouldn't continue. I fixed it closing the game then copy/pasting the dredge-save0.bin file in /saves-backup with the one in /saves and restarting. It brought me back to the last time I was in port. My /saves files was empty...a failed save attempt I guess.

You might want to copy the /saves file to the /Black Salt Games directory before you overwrite it. The full path is: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\LocalLow\Black Salt Games\DREDGE
