Dog side quest
Does anyone know how to do the dog side quest?

Lure him with food and patience and then take him to the researcher at Stellar Basin.

where does the quest trigger initially ?

do you mean with "researcher" the lady in the Old Fort ?
she does not give me a dog side quest.

You could also just throw it overboard, that resolves it just the same as with the guys brother.
Not that I would ever willingly toss overboard someones family member who wanted to reunite after years, nah that would be wrong.
