Damaged engine

I got blindsided by something a ways out from town and now my engine is damaged, is there really nothing I can do other than hold w for the 10 minutes it's going to take to get back?

So if I get hit and the rng puts the damage on my engine it's basically a one shot?
Three days have passed and I'm still not even half way back, this is like 2 mph, why did they do this?

I think its assumed by the time you're somewhere where you *can* get your engine busted (without being an idiot who runs the rocks), you're going to have invested in building up your boat so you can fit a spare on. though yes, its basically impossible to get back with all your engines busted.

Try using multiple 1x1 motors (pump jet). Six 1x1 motors will be more expensive than one 3x2 motor but that way you won't have all of your engine dying with one hit from rear.

That's why you use several engines.
