Bigger Boat

so I've watch a fair few youtubers & 1 Vtuber play this game but one question I have is can I buy a bigger boat? or am I stuck with the dinky tugboat wannabe for the whole time?

yes you get a bigger boat as u progress

To be clear: it's bigger as in it has a bigger inventory. The actual in-game model of your boat gets a little fancier/sturdier looking, but it's still the same boat throughout the game.

and the bigger boats have more equipment slots too?

Technically yes. The way the upgrades work, you upgrade the equipment slots first. Then when those are maxed, you can buy a new hull with more space. Then you buy more equipment slots and repeat several times until everything is upgraded. The final boat has a rather large hold with plenty of space for the best equipment.
