Gale Cliff's has its own monster that can come out at anytime.

Talk to the civilians, they'll tell you to listen for it and watch for it coming out from under the rocks.

That area is a pain because it almost killed me from the constant repairs.

The civilians call it "that hateful serpent" but I like to call it "jerkfish" instead, because it's just a big annoying bully. It jumpscared me so hard the first time.

If you're within the rocks it's usually better to just take the hit and continue, otherwise you risk hitting yourself against the rocks in a panic, the jerkfish doesn't seem to attack more than once every few ingame hours. If you're outside of the rocks you can run away from it.

so since the monster doesn't attack more than once every few ingame hours, I can dock at Gale Cliff (storage anything i have, if any) and rest til next day so game auto saves and try for the loot and if I get attacked, load last save and try again and i should be fine?

The RNG in the game doesnt seem to reset like that. If you go after the same loot in the same spot, it'll always attack you in the same spot every time you reload. Or at least it did to me.

You can save scum and pick a different route though, or just take the hit and finish up looting. The point is that it doesnt stick around and aggro on you like a normal video game enemy. It shows up, hits you once, and wanders off. So you just take your hit, collect what you're gonna collect, and repair the damage when you get back.

It is always there. It likes to jump you if you go into the middle area with the waterfall, but if you just cruise around the caverns it also goes on a patrol. It a bit of an audio queue in some low roaring/rumbling sound, and you will begin to increase in panic level so you know it is coming. You can dart out in several areas that have docks and once you dock he will move on. You can then safely go back into the caverns until he meanders back to your area.

the annoying thing constantly circles, spend too long *anywhere* vaguely inside the area and it'll get you. even if time isn't progressing, honestly its the most annoying monster-fish, because outside it, 'Mama', and the "you've wandered off too far" fish, none of the others are actively a constant unavoidable threat to their area at all times, and even the other two fish listed along side it have easier ways to avoid them, unlike the "slow"monster eel that's as fast as your boat can reasonably be assumed to be the first time you head to the cliffs.
