Lost castaway

I found the castaway but on the way back there was an accident and he fell overboard. I sailed to the same place and he is no longer there. Where can I find him?

If a passenger goes overboard, they are just gone. My understanding is that the task will update itself to show that it's no longer completable. The devs replied to another thread about an overboard passenger and it was simply "RIP" so I'm assuming this is intended and not a bug.

This is what happened when I lost a package overboard. The quest was marked as "done" despite the failure. However, the game only saves at docks as far as I can tell, so if you lose something, you can slam up against rocks to sink yourself and retry from the last dock. (this does mean you'll lose anything you caught since the last dock as well.)

I hope he was not important npc. It happens few hours ago and i did not even think about loading save. That was lesson to keep sanity high and avoid weird, fast boats that come to me

There aren't wrong ways to play and you can't screw up the game. Nothing important can be missed AFAIK.

You can think whatever you want, the reality is no - you still get an achievement. I don't "think" it's like that, I know, because I actually beat the game, while failing 1 mission and got the achievement, and several other people did so too. So instead of posting your absolutely incorrect assumptions in form of a definitive statement, you could just go "Do you know if we can still get an achievement if we fail a mission?" to sound less arrogant.
