Figure in blue quest/pursuit

Spoilers of course.

I got him a Blue Mackerel, and a Tiger Mackerel, but when I finally found a Snake Mackerel and went back to give it to him he was dead.
Has anyone else experienced this or something different?
It was night when I went back, and it had been a few days.

Kind of nervous that I can miss things if I'm not quick enough, but the difficulty has to come from somewhere...I wonder if these guys come back.

Blue and Yellow hood guys are dead....I think this quest is a kind of time attack quest.

I found the Snake Mackerel in the NE. It's a coastal fish in the Devil's Spine area. (It was in the ocean, not in the glowing volcanic area)

Blue guy was dead when I tried to bring him the Tiger Mackerel. No clue on the details but definitely time based in some way.

It is timed event (all the colour guys are) they are started after you talk to them so avoid until you are ready.

Does anyone know where to find the Tiger Mackerel and the Snake Mackerel? I already gave the blue guy a Blue Mackerel, so now I guess I am on the clock. I looked around but couldn't find any of those fish.

Patches have changed this since this thread was created, hooded figures can no longer starve to death as of 1.1. If you’d still like a hint, try matching the outline of the requested fish to one you haven’t found in the encyclopedia, that will at least help narrow down the region. The outline isn’t visible from the quest menu but will still be shown if you speak to the figure directly.
