How 'scary' is the game?
Hi all! I'm super into the vibe & gameplay of Dredge, and I'm enjoying the game so far! but unfortunately I'm a huge coward.

I can deal with spooky or tense stuff, like the infected fish and fog, but I start to struggle when things are actively trying to attack/cause me harm/jumpscare me. My tolerance for scares is super low.

I assumed the game wouldn't have much of these and would rely mostly on the story/aesthetics/vibe, but last in-game night, I saw another ship (ghost ship?) out on the water, blasting its horn and bee lining towards me. I made it back to town in time to avoid it, but does it do anything to you if it catches you? Are there other encounters in the game that can cause you harm/exist just to scare you?

I'm mostly doing my best to stay out of the water at night, but I get the feeling it'll be hard to progress that way, so I just wanna know where this game lands on the scariness scale so I can prepare myself & enjoy the game a little more!

If anyone could let me know, I'd appreciate it! TIA!

From what I seen there are events where you are being "jumped" by stuff in the water, big scary stuff and they do indeed chase you around.

Can't tell about this being present during the day as I haven't played nor watched much of the game, but in the night you are definitely going to encounter many of those events.

Have you considered lowering the game audio and listening to some chill music in the background to make it more bearable? I woudl say night activities are prolly the most interesting in this game. Would be shame to totally ignore them.

Oof that's a shame. I am gonna try and stick with it because I do like the game otherwise, so hopefully I can get used to the scarier stuff over time - maybe I'll let something catch me on purpose so I can see what to expect without being blindsided by it lol.

That's a good suggestion! If I can't get through it otherwise then that's probably what I'll end up doing.

Thanks!
