DREDGE

Is there a single net that does it all?
Ie fishes in all depths and biomes/environments
Thanks

Also once fully upgrading your boat there is no need to keep dredging supplies like wood cloth metal and refined metal, right?

Edit--

I did manage to put the improved Sampling device and a flexible rod.In my cargo hold so I do have that capability

If there is a more effective combo, I'd like to know. Thanks

Once I maxed out the boat, I've avoided dredging up any more of the standard materials, possibly saving them for later, in case a DLC enables more upgrades. If that does happen I'm sure the DLC would supply enough new ones, but still having it a bunch of familiar places, maybe marked on your map would make it quicker and easier.

EDIT: RCMidas has corrected me. The dredge spots for upgrade materials do respawn.

For nets, no. The closest you get is a special one from the Pale Reach DLC the Radiant Trawl Net. That does Ice, Shallow, Coastal and Ocean on a four space net.

Without that the best you get is a choice of two environments.

No net catches Abyssal or Hadal fish, and Volcanic and Mangrove fish require their specific net types. Once you got them all in the Devil's Spire and Twisted Strand respectively, repair them to full health and sell them back.

On dredging resource spots? Two reasons, one money, you can sell them to the traveling merchant but by that point, you have more than you'll ever need. And the return is low anyway.

The other reason is each time you pull up one of those pieces, you might pull up a research part. Which for completionists, you never get enough of.

There are several spots that respawn, especially around the starting area, and Refined Metal can always be purchased from the Travelling Merchant. No need to worry about running out of resources - and I know, and have confirmed this, yes, because I once tried to fish out the entire map just to see if that could be done.

I was able to sell the materials like wood and cloth at the Pontoons, after I built all of the ship upgrades. In order to do it, I just had to tab over to Shipyard, the place where you "Repair" the ship and trawl nets etc. It took me a while to figure that out.

You can sell dredged materials to the wandering trader, but only in the shipyard on her pontoons. Anywhere else, you'll only have the option to discard them.
