Foreman keeps telling me about Devils Spine, but nothing about other locations, especially Marrow that I need oil.

Yeah games a ♥♥♥♥♥ about it, you need to clean all the areas then have to hope it spawns some in the marrow
Oof, that is a ridiculous oversight from the developers.
That is almost punishing if you miss something, and want to go "farm" a spot for certain fish.

If your tying to get a specific oil fish get some bait and have the only rod equipped be that fish, like the coastal oil rod if its a coastal fish and nothing else. Then put some bait down and you should get it after 1-2 baits

The only reason you might need 'oil' to respawn is to siphon it up to use Dark Canisters in crafting - and as you've noted, talking to the Foreman will respawn oil (in a random location).

The fish themselves don't rely on the oil to be in the area, so, there's no way to soft lock yourself out of farming fish!

Hi Dev, thank you for the reply.
So as an example - I want to get special infected fish from the oil in Marrow.
But before I get that fish, I clean up all oil spills.
Once all oil spills have been cleaned, I notice that I need to still catch an infected fish in that area, but there is no oil anymore and the existing fish I fished up and never caught a special one.
Now I am unable to use bait in the area as I dont know where the oil spill used to be.
When I go to the Foreman he only keeps repeating about oil spills in Devil Spine.

Oh do you mean an abberation? Do the bait tip I suggested with abberation bait, you can buy it from the rig and you should eventually get it

As long as you're in the region (like "The Marrows" or "Stellar Basin") bait will attract the fish - you don't need to use it where the oil used to be!

Also, the fish will respawn naturally over time, even if the oil is gone. You don't need the oil at all!

Just make sure you have the correct rod types equipped to catch what you're looking for.
