That is almost punishing if you miss something, and want to go "farm" a spot for certain fish.
The fish themselves don't rely on the oil to be in the area, so, there's no way to soft lock yourself out of farming fish!
So as an example - I want to get special infected fish from the oil in Marrow.
But before I get that fish, I clean up all oil spills.
Once all oil spills have been cleaned, I notice that I need to still catch an infected fish in that area, but there is no oil anymore and the existing fish I fished up and never caught a special one.
Now I am unable to use bait in the area as I dont know where the oil spill used to be.
When I go to the Foreman he only keeps repeating about oil spills in Devil Spine.
As long as you're in the region (like "The Marrows" or "Stellar Basin") bait will attract the fish - you don't need to use it where the oil used to be!
Also, the fish will respawn naturally over time, even if the oil is gone. You don't need the oil at all!
Just make sure you have the correct rod types equipped to catch what you're looking for.
