Trophy Fish Collecting

I may have figured out some methods to get trophy fish.

General things to note. There seems to be a cooldown in between trophy spawns. A yellow mini game doesn't spawn until some fish are caught since the last yellow minigame. So if you passed or failed the yellow minigame, or if you feel you aren't getting any, go catch some fish to settle the cooldown.

1. Exotic
MISSABLE. There's only 1 in the game. To guarantee a trophy fish, start the mini game, if it's not a yellow minigame, exit the mini game. Repeat until you get a yellow minigame. Doesn't take long.
2. Standard fish
Same method but I recommend going for aberrations first as some of these will be bycatch. Using bait seems to increase yellow minigame chances.
3. Aberrations
Same method at aberration spots. Use the slowest reel possible. Squids have yellow bar on second hit. Using bait and atrophy may increase trophy aberration spawn chances.
I think you cannot miss anything in the minigame for an aberration in general (If anyone can prove/disprove will be nice). So to get a trophy aberration you need to hit all the green and the yellow ie don't miss at all. This makes certain fish easier to get trophy aberrations than others. The yellow crosshair and yellow dot mini games require you to hit all the greens that overtake the yellow as well. This makes you catch the fish before you hit the yellow. So I recommend using as low a reel speed as possible and hope you get a good minigame "layout". Even after all this, an aberration is still not guaranteed and you'll get a trophy standard instead.
4. Crabpots
Put down pots in an area. Leave the area comepletely and don't return for a few in-game days. After a few in-game days. Save at a dock in another area. Travel to your pots. The catch is decided when the pots load in hence staying far away until harvest time. Check if there are trophy crabs. If there are none, quit (do not dock anywhere) and travel again. Repeat until you get a trophy you want. Empty the pots, repair and redeploy as necessary. You can get trophy prawn by using pots in the open ocean.
5. Trawler net

As far as I know you need to get lucky boating around to get a trophy anchovy aberration and jellyfish aberration. If anyone knows a less boring method please share.

Hey I was re-rolling the mini game the other day to get an Exotic Trophy, good stuff. I hit one 'skill check', miss one, then Leave. Until I get the yellow. But on the circle type of mini game I didn't get it to work.

You don't have to hit any skill check. Leaving immediately works. It works on all the minigames. You need to catch some fish since the last yellow minigame (success or fail) before another one will appear.

I wondered about Exotic's since I started farming trophies. Some take forever, like the Decorator Crab took about 180 catches for 1 trophy lol.

I would like to confirm that you can catch a trophy aberration from a normal fishing spot (i,e., it does not have a visual indicator of a higher chance of aberrations), and in terms of the fishing minigame, only hit the yellow one to reel it up. It's a Vortex Interloper and my aberration bonus is 12%.
