It's highly unlikely that a game has been out this long and there are hidden endings nobody has posted about on the internet by now.
I think the game did better than they expected, and they originally stopped expanding for money reasons because there is a risk if the game flops. Hopefully the success encourages them to either add to this one or make a sequel.
Not giving an abnormal fish to the fishmonger simply means he doesn't close up shop for a day.
Not giving the dockworker the packages means he's not a pale, pained filled husk of a man afterwards.
Helping all the robed figures in time just means you have all the books they can give you. Once you give all four of them all the fish they ask for it's implied they just sit there and wait for the end of the game. Particularly the bad ending.
It's fairly easy to not use any of the powers. The more interesting one to see is if it's possible to take the book from the collector before he gives you any of those powers.
And that code you found is actually the plot of the game, from back story to bad end.
Deep(where the casket is) -> Sky(dredging it up)->Deep(the wife dies)-> Sky(bringing her back)->Deep{{Forever}} (the elder god dragging everybody down).
As for the Five mentioned, it's the five items you're gathering for the collector.
If you're hoping for a third ending in which you bring your wife back but nothing bad happens, I'm sorry but it's not that genre of storytelling.
Can you give the package for the dock worker to someone else or dump it into the ocean to permanently prevent him from turning into a husk or completing the quest in a different way?
I am still trying to figure out what the hell was in those packages anyway (and why he didn't turn into a husk after consuming the contents of the first package).
I am assuming that there was some sort of infected fish or an abberation in the latter one.
Probably an abberration fish since the shop keeper also turned into sort of a similar husk after you give him one of those fish (although he could still talk).
Or maybe you simply have to deny them these requests... can you do that? I remember that this was an option for some of the specific fishing requests.
The bad ending can be done without ever recognizing who the collector is, or it can be done after getting back your lucidity and just... doin it anyways. It changes some dialogue on the way there. Iirc 'the collector is on your boat' as opposed to 'the collector is with you'.
Small change, but, a change.
That is just quitter talk.
