DREDGE
Dredging Minigame
I hate it. Unlike literally every other minigame you lose basically all progress for messing up one time. Maybe I am just doing something wrong but it is just infuriating. All the other timing games are fine but it, for no reason make it so you have to click just before instead of inside but it doesn't have a clearly defined "click zone." Coupled with sometimes the inner ring being timed poorly you just miss automatically when it changes rings.

Absolutely terrible. Again, maybe it is just me doing something wrong, the game wasn't exactly clear on the tutorial for it. The fact it takes so long even when you do it right coupled with the ridiculously fast day/night cycle makes the early game a real slog.

The rest of the game has been great and it really nails the Lovecraftian "looming dread" atmosphere but this minigame was kind of ruining the experience for me.

All I can say is you get used to it. Felt the same initially but somehow, somewhere along the way, I got so used to it I wondered what the problem was in the beginning.

If one word helped me it would be rhythm.

the issue is some of them rhythm helps but others the center ring moves at a different rate than the outer ring so there isn't a rhythm. Most of the required dredges seem to have a steady rhythm though so at least after getting all the upgrades you want you don't have to bother unless you want the money from selling.

Good to know it isn't JUST because I suck.

I've played through almost the entire game and I never once had that happen to me. Could you point out a few places where this happened to you?

I know this isn't helpful, but just to provide another data point: I hit "obstacles" the first time I encountered the dredging minigame, and then never again in my 27h playthrough. Not a single time, even though my aged 50+ year-old reflexes certainly aren't what they used to be (and let's not talk about my eyesight). The dredging minigame felt extremely easy to me, just like most of the fishing minigames. I wonder if you might be encountering a bug?

I know this isn't helpful, but just to provide another data point: I hit obstacles the first time I encountered the dredging mechanic, and then never again in my 27h playthrough. Not a single time, even though my aged 50+ year-old reflexes certainly aren't what they used to be (and let's not talk about my eyesight). Maybe. Basically sometimes the holes are lined up in such a way that clicking causes the arrow to drop or rise directing into a hole causing a fail which as stated basically resets the entire progress bar. When this happens the rings are moved slightly from their starting positions, sometimes cascading failures because I get placed directly next to a hope with no time to react.

It isn't all of the time, but it is some of the time which is more than enough for me to just not like it since all of the others I have zero issue with.

Oh well, this is enough feedback for me to know I am just going to have to deal.

I wasn't aware there was such an option.

Thank the lord for this mode, that minigame was literally killing me. I am terrible at those, could never play guitar hero or any of those predictive button pushers. Really fun game overall, great atmosphere.

Ditto. I love this game but playing it on the Deck the dredge game always frustrates me. Knowing I can play in a relaxed mode is definitely going to keep me engaged.

Can we get a way to lower the volume of the minigame? I like hearing the ambience of the environment, and compared to all other sound effects, that minigame is SO loud. If I lower my sfx volume, then everything else gets lowered too. Could I suggest an Environment Volume option, or volume balancing the dredge sound effects? LOVE THE GAME.
