Oarfish lost

I was collecting the unique fishes, but was attacked by the angler fish at night and lost the oarfish? Is there no other way to get another one without starting a new game?

Nevermind, you can still finish the quest, finding it is what matters.

Sometimes I just save-scum it if something bad happens like that.

The game only saves when you dock and exit a dock, so if you take a bad hit or lose an item that you really wanted it usually doesn't take long to redo the path you took.

So are we sure they never respawn?

Even if the quest is still completed, if you don't sell the fish the value part of the encyclopedia never gets filled in.

Nooo, there goes my shot at a 100% encyclopedia.

Correct, they don't respawn. Those four are unique, one-time-only fishes.
