The boat speed...
Why is it when I make my boat faster, time also moves faster?

It shouldn't be moving faster. Bug?

I just tested it and a distance that took me 1h with Stack+4xJet took me well over 6h without any engines. If boat speed also made time move faster one would assume both take 6h.

Boat speed is just a straight upgrade. You can travel the same distance in less time.

And also quite important for getting out of dangerous situations quickly.

Interesting. I didn't much pay attention to it in the beginning assuming the clock was going chronologically... 1, 2, 3, 4, ... It doesn't. I noticed later that it skips numbers between 1, and 4 at a time, and I though, "that's weird..." So I just assumed that time moved faster for some reason.

Yeah time definable doesn't move faster. I don't know where you are getting that. I can make it to the back of gale, by going around the cliffs, by 7am. Before going back there for one thing and back to port took literally the entire day.

Not that there are genuinely that many dangerous situations in the game; I've been sunk a grand total of once. My experience is that you have to be *trying* to get sunk in order to sink. Most of the time if I take damage it's because I didn't slow down in time and bumped into a rock or the shoreline and took some damage rather than because a monster in the deep attacking me.

Having a higher engine speed definitely makes time move slower per nautical mile or whatever the unit of distance would be.

Time just appears to move faster because you are covering more ground in a shorter time. Time just moves faster LESS for the total ground you are covering...it's an illusion.

If you don't believe me, test it out by measuring the time it takes to travel a set distance between 2 objects.

Upgrading the speed gradually makes the world feel smaller, making the voyage parts somewhat trivial and unfun

I wish you luck in the mangroves then. Speed in there is asking for a hole in your hull.
Yeah, at that point I just bought some of the crappier engines, installed them and put the faster ones in the storage.
