We've had a lot of feedback about how there's no indication that it's a timed quest, and it's something we'll be addressing in an upcoming patch. Sorry!
really the only things that's soured me on this game - been trying to avoid spoilers/locations of fish and its just ended up f****ing me over on this because no other task have time limits and these ones don't have anything that says "hey you need to do this quickly"
Edit:
Good, because its really irritating - just get rid of the dumb time limit altogether, especially when you need to unlock later game equipment to finish some of them
other than that its a great game and I'm really enjoying it
As long there is no indication for the timer, and spawn spots aren't marked on the map, the timer should really be dropped. Dredge is a chill exploration game with an excellent narrative, it is not the type of game that needs or even benefits from timed challenges.
But no, you don´t need to look walkthroughs for those missions. They are really simple and straight forward missions if.
The only way how "skill" factors into this, is the ability to memorize all the spawn points in the game, on the off chance that you may need to return to that spawn point in order to get specific fish while on a timer. And even there, the task that the game gives you - memorizing all these spawn spots while the game doesn't give you any tools for tracking them - isn't even an enjoyable one.
Thankfully the devs seem pretty competent at game design and are already addressing the issue.
I like the chill, do things at my own pace theme of the rest of the game.
How is it a skill issue if the guy tells me he want an abyssal fish and I don't have the equipment to get abyssal stuff yet because its in part of the map I haven't even been to yet?
Knowing that I shouldn't talk to the guy until much later has nothing to do with skill...
If we need to wait until the end-game to trigger the interaction, that makes the quest rewards from the Hooded Figures more or less useless.
The Hooded Figure pursuits and the Basalt Slab interactions are not required to complete the game. Why? Surely it would be better if they were integrated into the story, as an essential part of the road to the end-game.
Yeah, there are a few side quests that probably could be integrated into the main storyline.
It's especially unfair when the blue robed guy is in the second area you visit, when the fish he needs is the last area. It dooms you from the very start.
