Trilobite not spawning

Ive been at it for a while now and I have not fund one Trilobite, I found a lot of things just not the one thing I need to progress. I stick the crab pot in the goo around the Gale Cliffs. what am I doing wrong?

You need to have your crab pots at the right depth range. They don't need to be in the goo, it's the depth that matters.

The further down the tech tree, the better the pot. That's about it.

Deploy more then one in multiple locations.

I was just in Gale Cliffs, with pots deployed about 30 meters deep between the Pontoon and the large eastern island, and I got multiple trilobites in every pot.

Bigger ones and some attract more fish or have more space. Took me few ingame days before having trilobite with three best crab pots, but I guess that's just no luck or luck.

Maybe also putting them right at the depth where there are less other crabs can help

I usually park my Gale Cliffs crab pots fairly close to the merchant's pontoon, and I got a few trilobites on the pots' first deployment. Granted, I was using third-level crab pots and the Mouth of the Deep, so I was kind of operating at a bit of an advantage there.
