Game is crashing. Random black screen, sudden freeze, game stops responding.

Increasingly my game has been crashing to the point it is unplayable.

Usually when I am out and about at sea, some random black flicker might appear or the whole frame freezes.

Next thing I know, the entire game crashes or shuts itself.

The frequency has increased so much that it is hard to play the game.

I have tried verifying my game intergrity, no issues. I have even reinstalled the entire game!

I am running on the latest Nvidia GPU and 64 GB of RAM.

Please help! I don't want to lose the save!

Flickering black screen and freezing sounds like a graphics driver issue, it might simply need updating, or even perhaps downgrading assuming that it's a new update that's breaking it. Does sound still play when this happens? Until the game closes, of course.

If you open the start menu (Assuming you're on Windows), type in "run" and open the "run" app, then type in dxdiag into the text box and run it (press enter), it will open a window that contains your computer specifications, you'll be able to see the name of your CPU and GPU, could you share them as well?

Yes, the screen flickers intermittently. Then suddenly the game quits. There is no sound when this happens.

GPU: Nvidia 4070ti
CPU: i9-13900KF
RAM: 64 GB
Windows 11 (64)
Direct X: DX 12

My GPU drivers are up-to-date.

I was doing ok until i completed the lvl 5 upgrades (before the +15 Hull) and then I started crashing (twice trying to reach the K2 island) and once just at dock. Hopefully the dev will find something. Great game.

I had a similar issue in that the game would freeze after launching. No game screen ever popped up but my Steam library showed that game was running. It turned out to be Bitdefender. I disabled Bitdefender shield under Protection/Antivirus/Advanced/Bitdefender Shield. With that disabled I can launch and play the game without any freezing or crashing issues whatsoever.

this is happening to me now with the new DLC. game randomly freezes and let's you choose between exiting or waiting for the program to respond.
