What do you wish for DREDGE 2?
I'd say a one or two steps towards more realistic proportions, to undermine the ON SEA aspect. Imagine the atmosphere in a bit more authentic environment. And i don't mean that you can't have a stylized game, take Sea of Thieves for instance, highly stylized but the immersion you get just from 1:1 porportions and the awesome looking water.

Also a rogue-lite game with this idea would be crazy.

There's a game I played a while back called Outer Wilds, DREDGE doesn't have too much in common with that game, but the ability to explore and learn about new locations and the history of said locations is a part about this game that I really enjoyed.

I think if there were a sequel, I would love a similar looping mechanic in which information is consolidated to grant further investigation within each loop, I would love for the areas to be more closely connected with each other, even if they're not physically.

I think exploration and discovery could be a significant positive for this game if built upon even more so than it is now. Of course, I'd like the fear factor to remain through all of it.
Personally, I'd prefer it if the developers took me on a different journey next time. I hope they have more creativity and imagination in them than just a series of fishing games with cosmic horror elements, regardless of how good they might be.

That said, with the mechanics of the games market being what they are, I wouldn't blame them for choosing the safe path and releasing a sequel. The game is a success, and the demand for "more of the same" is clearly there.
i'd like it if it was set in like the 1900's and was based around a real life city, sort of historical but like, strange, like something happened and it's different now. also the city is underground, like it... fell, somehow, or the city was taken underground by flying mammals or something. there's still a huge sea surrounding the city but it's dark, and horrifying things live in that darkness. there's also glowing things in the "sky" that look like stars but they aren't stars and we don't have to talk about that any more

maybe the city could be run by like, these partially anonymous figures that are sort of represented by like some defining feature or trait about themselves, but they're really secretive and not much is known about them. especially one of them. has anyone found out anything about this one fellow? does anyone know his name? also somehow people can't really die now, i mean you can but it's difficult.

and the camera angle could be changed to be more sort of top down. oh and you need food and fuel to go anywhere, like actually a really restrictive amount. like so much that it's almost ludicrous. yep. and you should move a lot slower, and the map should be a lot bigger

and! there should be other ships that attack! and there's not really any fishing.

I'm getting a very Sunless Sea vibe from this suggestion. 🤔

ok, i'm not really sure what that is? this is all my own original idea. do not steal,
More cult activity, with more mystery and intrigue in the cult storylines. Maybe you become the go-to guy for recovering various relics related to different gods.

And more corrupted eldritch locations. I want to sail through a risen Rhyleh, with colossal obelisks looming high overhead, the sky shrouded in eldritch mists. I want to sail into a ring of stones and be transported underground or to another dimension. Crank up the eldritch factor by endgame. Let the creeping realization and cosmic horror be subtle at the beginning, but let us play in it once it peaks.

Let me sail an alien sea.

This, 100%.

I think the main issue I have with the game is how there's nothing really happening outside of the main quest. Overall, Dredge is very straightforward and the game world itself has no real depth at all.

I feel that the game, whether as-is, in the upcoming DLC, or otherwise in a sequel, could (and should) place a lot more emphasis on exploration, discovery and events happening around the game map. While I hadn't played Dredge prior to the most recent patch, based on what I saw in the patch notes, I think the last patch probably pushed the overall balance toward the easier side.

I suspect, due to how ridiculously quick the day and night cycle progresses, many players probably found it challenging or arduous to find a good rhythm between exploring and farming, which would readily explain why the update was focused on adding replenishing research components, dredge components and map markers.

Overall, while I really enjoyed my time playing Dredge, I do believe it would have been much better if it had a somewhat slower day and night cycle, with more emphasis on exploration and side quests or events happening to accommodate said cycle without ruining the overall balance.
I would like more depth in the phishing mechanics and the the pishes to be fully visible and animated when catched
I hope the dev would create a different game, this should not be like a Sport game each year or COD with an annual release.

Id' rather have a few (small) DLCs for Dredge.
Basically more of everything. A ♥♥♥♥ ton more fish especies, more ship upgrades, more biomes.. that kind of stuff.

I feel the potential for this kind of game is way bigger than what we got in the end. To make succesors of a game isn't necessarily bad.
