Best Engine Layout?

As far as I can tell, 1 Engine Stack + 4 Jet Engines is the best top speed you can get. With the book that improves their speed, I've got 115.5 kn. That's about as best you can get, right? Since 2 Jet Engines are better than any of the two-slot engines available.

but yes 1 stack +4 jets is the layout for top speed.

not top speed, but the absolute best layout is just 100% single slot jet drives. If you get bonked and lose an engine, no big deal!

best layout is all jet engines in my opinion because you can never lose more the 1 engine per hit. its the 2nd fastest setup next to the last engine which is faster the 6 jet engines. but not by enough because 1 hit and youre down 80% speed. also getting the 2 books that help boost speed will make it fast enough

Totally agree with Jarmer and Shmooe - it's the second fastest combo which is the best overall, but it's the final engine to get unlocked, so it takes a while. Basically as soon as the single slot jet engine is unlocked, start buying them whenever they are for sale. You need eight in all. The big six slot prop combo plus two little jets is faster, but always seems to get knocked out whenever you crash or get attacked. With eight small jet engines you'll always have power in reserve when you run into trouble.

But 8*9,5=76 plus the books is 85,5 and that's soo much slower than 123,8... i need speeeed.

Sorry, I made a mistake, you get ten engine slots on a fully maxed out boat, not eight. This combo gives a top speed of 112.5 km (including both speed booster books). This is close enough to the actual maximum top speed, to make it a valuable option. It's so easy to knock your boat against rocks. Whenever that happens to me, it always seems to be the big engine that gets knocked out of action. Having ten little jet engines means that my speed isn't significantly reduced if my boat gets damaged.
