Captain's log, my top 14 most caught fish

top 14 most caught fish:
1. glowing octopus, stellar basin, 281 caught (adding 4 top tier crab pots to my stellar basin circuit around game day 130-140 strategically positioned within the basin near octopus spawns put them over the top, coral grouper was in first place around game day 140)
2. coral grouper, stellar basin, 254 caught
3. snailfish, stellar basin, 219 caught
4. sergeant fish, twisted strand, 211 caught
5. barracuda, stellar basin, 187 caught
tie 6a. Gar, twisted strand, 174 caught
6b. giant amphipod, stellar basin, 174 caught
8. red snapper, stellar basin, 135 caught (this is like trawl only, way lower cash value multiple tiers lower than even 12th place on this list)
9. anglerfish, stellar basin, 134 caught
10. longfin eel, twisted strand, 92 caught
11. bronze whaler, the marrows, 85 caught
12. catfish, twisted strand, 79 caught
13. firefly squid, stellar basin, 65 caught (another trawl only with low tier cash value)
14. tarpon, twisted strand, 62 caught (mostly trawled, because I suck at the "circle getting bigger" style of fishing minigame, so I avoid them a bit.)

devils spine and gale cliffs both have the random bigger fish randomly taking a bite outta my hull turning me away from fishing there. I neutralize the mind sucker threat in twisted strand through normal gameplay pursuits, and the massive octopus threat in stellar basin mostly neutralized by gameplay too.

stellar basin is just the most compacted spawns, least amount of time wasted moving.
edit, or maybe it just feels this way because there is no obstacles to maneuver the boat around within the center of the basin.

devils spine also has the undesirable by me "circle getting bigger" fishing minigame more prevalent working against it.

random facts about my playstyle: I haven't bothered to learn to use the bait offered by the downed pilot in twisted strand (other than on mind suckers), and I haven't used a single spell all game (preference).

its like 10-15 days in stellar basin till the center is mostly fished out, then a day in the marrows, then 7-10 days in twisted strand, then repeat the circuit.
