Water bursting up?

What do I do with the water coming up vertical out of the ocean? I tried to position my boat over it and got hull damage. Thanks

Those are called waterspouts. They're like mini-tornadoes that also exist in real-life. They're dangerous in the real world and, so far as I can tell, just dangerous in the game world too.

And what would you think would happen if you go on top of spout?

They can sometimes drop fish into your boat if they damage you. Not worth it though. Just avoid.
