Photomode Creatures?

Have any of you all found the sperm whale or the turtle? if so I would love to know where because I can't seem to find them. Side note: are the ravens the photographer talks about those birds that come when you're insane?

I've seen the Eagles, Orcas and Sperm Whale (it barely crests the surface of the water) but haven't find the Turtle, Crocodile and Whale Shark yet.

I saw a turtle north of Gale Cliffs, right next to a humpback (?) whale. I saw the Orcas near there too.

I just found the whale shark myself near Stellar Basin, it swam near the research base. It was around 3-4 am ish when I found it. I also saw the Sperm Whale, first you see it attack something and then it dives back under water.

Update: I found the sea turtle in that steel point cliff area but am still searching for the sperm whale.

(I'm pretty sure you can only see it in the squid attack event but I may have seen one by itself in the devils spine)

Also anyone know what it meant in the patch notes by that "unusual shallow water creature"

I saw a sperm whale leap put of the water and grab an octopus tentacle between the marrows and devils spine. this was duing daytime and low panic

Are you referring to the one from the end of the update trailer, the one that glows? because that is one of the new creatures that will follow you when you have high panic. saw it, looks really cool, kinda looks like a toothy flounder/loin fish mix

where are the eagles, I get towards the northwestern end of devil's spine and I hear them constantly but can't find them

Look up, way up. I found them flying around the top of the "Mountains" right next to where the travelling Merchant docks.

Update: Finally found the sperm whale vs squid event, I saw it in the devils spine from the southwest coming from the marrows.

Still looking for the unusual shallow water creature, any info would help.

Is there any benefit to actually taking these pictures? I know she gives you tips on where to find them, but she doesn't give you an actual quest for it.

Ah fair enough, it just sounded like people were treating it like a quest or and achievement you could get rather than flavour. :P

Also feels weird to set it up so similarly to the rare fish quest. Makes it feel like you'll actually get something for tracking down these rare animals.
