Ouphris kinda sucks
The moment he sees you, you literally can't really do much to escape, he also seems to follow us even if we use the amulet.

I think he needs a rework because he ain't really tricking anyone.

Ouphris has a specific mechanic where you can only use the amulet and it detour him once he transforms, so as soon as you hear the whistling, that means he transformed and then you use the amulet. When he's shape-shifted into a player, the amulet won't do anything.

Thanks for the advice.

If you use the amulet too soon he doesn't attack nor transform?

Nothing happens if you use it early. He'll still follow you until he whistles and transforms. He can transform multiple times while searching for the blue lever so I highly suggest saving the amulet only until he whistles.

Ouphris is one of the least threatening mummies. Dekan is way faster and can't be warded off with an ambulet. Necreph knows where you are at all times and straight up teleports to insta-kill you. Talgor is an invisible power walker. As far as mummies go, Ouphris is pretty chill, same with Rathos and Ataimon.

Dekan is not that hard unless the tomb routes are tricky (traps and such) or your microphone picks off some background noise, otherwise you can sit around in one place until he leaves.

Necreph is piss easy as long as you only look at foot level.

Talgor is not gonna catch you often as long as you keep the radio music going and scream.

Ouphris feels like he's basically always where you are and if he catches even a glimpse of you then it's good luck getting away. Our amulets must have bugged or something because he was still following us after whistling.

You can get away from him if you can break line of sight enough, or force him to take longer paths than you through the map's layout. Things like jumping off bridges or the stairs out forcing him to take the longer path means you can lose him around a corner.
Also, when he's about to transform he stops moving, so you can have a moment to get around a corner and lose him right when he attacks... I've done it before when I used up my amulet.

They all have decent means of avoiding them.
Dekan is dead simple if you can stay quiet and avoid standing in his way.
Necreph is just a tablet and no eye contact.. hardest is if being attacked by monsters and you need a torch to fend them off, but dousing torches and not chasing forever made this a lot easier.
Rathos and Ataimon both have a means to temporarily stun them to get away if needed.

I find the hardest being Talgor.. because sometimes, depending on the map, the lighting can be so bad that you have a hard time seeing where he might be and can get caught in a dead end. He makes noise, but sometimes you can just walk right up into him. Oof.

Yea the layout is your biggest enemy with Talgor.

I'm disappointed that no one has mentioned just getting on the stairs. I realize it's fairly specific, but Majais won't go past the first (maybe second) flat area in the steps up, and won't go beyond the first flight down to the inner chamber unless you're in a chase (and even then, they'll leave about a flight above the puzzle room.

I know that works but it's just kinda cheesy.

You were asking for help, and called attention to an even bigger "cheese" of just looking down against Necreph. And just cause it's a "cheese" doesn't mean it's easy. In fact, with how situational it is, I'd argue it's not cheese at all.
Meow Seb May 15, 2023 @ 6:57am
Not sure how that's an even bigger cheese when it's literally how Necreph works.

I mean, you're intended to look at the walls since that's where the switch is; but by that logic, getting on the stairs isn't a cheese because that's how all Majais work.

You're intended to just not look at Necreph, hugging the walls sounds like hugging the floor to me. I suppose the stairs are how they're intended to work yea.

Now can you please stop, I'm not here to argue.

Neither am I. I was simply pointing out another solution that I was surprised no one else mentioned.
Have a good day. <3
