I cant play multiplayer

Everything about the game is fine, but i cannot play multiplayer, the button is greyed out, my friends cannot invite me, nothing. I have bought the game myself and tried everything i can think of.

Hello, to play as multiplayer, steam must be launched before the game. Please be sure steam is not on offline mode.
