I got no clue to how to fix :(
I was planning to finish the original campaign this evening and move on to Choas Rising. I am not sure if this is good or bad luck, it's bad as I have lost my original campaign. It's good as that is all I have lost.... I would have been more annoyed if I had been abut to finish Chaos Rising...
Unfortunately the GFWL save files will no longer load in Steam. cb6dba - sorry to hear about the timing :(
I am not sure if this would work - we don't have any old GFWL save files that we could test something like that with. If that does work - keep us posted!
I tried to create another campaign profile and it is saved among my original games.
I've tried everything, disabling steamcloud, swaping files etc. nothing happens.
I was near the end of the game and I enjoy it a lot. I'm pretty mad right now.
I've looked inside the files, they're not "written" the same way pre and post patch.
Seriously, should I wait and hope for a fix, or start all over?
Why can't you fix it? I checked with Process Monitor and game still reads that old save files, it's just that it can't recognise them as proper save files
I was dreaming about having GfWL turned off, but my saves...
My understanding from the developer team is that this is not something that can be resolved. It was not done lightly and I can understand your frustration - there are some definite restrictions that are faced when working to update an older game/move it over in full to Steamworks. We wanted to save it from the Gamespy server so players could continue enjoying DoWII.
No. I don't think you can. Do you have any idea how many hours' gaming has been lost without recourse?
