Modding problems
first off: *I'm not joining any discords about this*. I'd normally give up at google failing me. but it's important enough to me that I'm asking here since I couldn't sign up to post on the single other forum that has a chance of having answers.

second: I'm trying to add termagants to a campaign squad (because it's funny), but don't like how it looks when you just directly apply the blood raven colors to the tyranid models. while looking through the related files I noticed that in the wargear there's a `team_color_override` category, so I made a duplicate of the termagant "armor" wargear to try playing around with those.
but neither the color names or ids actually change it ingame?

so, if any of you know how the wargear `team_color_override` actually works, please share.

EDIT 10/04/2024: SOLVED IT MYSELF!
I decided that, somewhere in the default wargear files, there *had* to be something that does what I want. and there was: your boi, the stalwart librarian held the answers thanks to his uncharacteristically BLUE armor.

anyway, you grab the ARGB blocks from one of his wargear pieces and insert them into whatever other wargear color you're trying to overwrite.

back here again since steam is 3 of the 5 searchable resources on this game:

I want to backport the combi-flamer from the elite mod for retribution to use in a campaign mod, but even with the files open right in front of me, I can't make sense of how that thing works.

in short, my own personal preference.

I spent the relicnews era of dow2 modding learning by lurking, and while I do have modding questions I'll want to be asking, I want the question and answer to be something that can be found in the "open" internet, for anyone to learn from if they look for it.

I understand what you mean. That would be a dream yeah. Unfortunately, internet forums have lost a lot of popularity since Reddit, Discord and other social media have come out.

Ironically, as one of the new bloods for DOW2 modding, I have seen how DIscord has actually revived DOW2 modding when it was previously dead after the RelicNews forums were shut down.
