controller vs keyboard

Just got into the game yesterday (and I LOVE IT), I am just wondering about which one is easier to play:
- controller feels much more natural and I end up playing that 90% of the time, however it only lets you shoot in the direction which you are heading, whereas...
- keyboard lets you basically shoot in a totally diffferent direction then your movement, so you can for example jump away from the enemy while shooting them, which sounds like a tactically valid option that the controller is just not providing...
Any thoughts? And am I getting this right?

not sure what controller or settings you are using, but default for me was left stick for movement and right stick for aiming, but if you arent using the right stick it might default to aiming in the direction you move.
