Are the challenges necessary to unlock the option to prestige?

Title. I'm level 20 with every class but I can't seem to find the option to prestige anywhere.

Challenges are not required to unlock gear or prestige any further. Once you prestige, you only need to level up to level 20 to prestige again.
You also only need to level up to unlock gear again.

Then where's the option to prestige? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Have you completed all challenges and reached level 20? It should be in the level viewer where you see what you unlock at what level.

I see all the time lvl 150 with no prestige and +100 lvl

Account level ≠ Class level. Prestige is a choice, and some people don't want to lose access to their weapons.

Ah I see. Sorry, I misunderstood what you said earlier and thought I didn't need to do the challenges to prestige - instead, you have to do them to prestige, then you won't have to do them again. The button's not there because I have yet to complete them.

You can also prestige without losing your weapons, if you wait until you have enough class XP to be instantly level 20 again (42084XP to be exact).
